"In 2013, when Catharine Clark moved her eponymous gallery from 49 Geary to the Potrero Hill area, she gave herself more room to work with, including a dedicated media space that has shown indelible work by such artists as Shalo P ("The Bedroom Suite"), Nina Katchadourian ("In a Room Full of Strangers"), and Andy Diaz Hope and Jon Bernson ("Beautification Machines").

Simultaneously, in the gallery's more traditional space, Clark has exhibited memorable work by such artists as Sandow Birk ("American Qur'an" and "Indelible (sic) Monuments"), Masami Teraoka ("Masami Teraoka's Apocalyptic Theater/The Pope, Putin, Peach Boy and Pussy Riot Galore"), and Walter Robinson ("Sic transit gloria mundi"). Clark's tastes run across many genres. She takes chances — just like the artists she champions — and the result is an exhibit schedule that is always too good to pass up."

MAGIC HOUSE SHOW

i have a new show at a magic house: POP UP.
there is a periscope in the bathroom.
the stairs are made with bundles of colorful pencils.
it's a dreamy place. we'll be taking up the cellar and have milkmen give tours.
there will be a lot of music. there's an antique bowling arcade game.
it will be held at this rad place on January 28th. there may be an expanded version of FFF for this occasion.

The works of these two artists provide prisms by which to deflect and defeat the force of assumed and adopted histories and the oppressive weight of our shared media/mediums, generating rainbows out of the shadow selves that lurk in our collective mediated consciousness..."
